About Me

Namita Pasupuleti was born and brought up in Aurora, Colorado and attends the University of Colorado Boulder, where she is earning a major in Computer Science, a minor in Linguistics, and a minor in Creative Technology, and Design (CTD). She has a passion for art, design, and coding, and she hopes to pursue a career where she can combine her computer science skills with design. Currently, she hopes to enter the fields of UI/UX design or research, Human-computer interaction (HCI), and User-centered design (UCD).

On the side, Namita works in a lab with Casey Fiesler studying online fan communities and has co-authored a paper titled “You don’t do your hobby as a job”: Stereotypes of Computational Labor and their Implications for CS Education which has been accepted for inclusion in the SIGCSE Technical Symposium 2021 program.

Additionally, she is a co-director and co-founder of the Women of Color in STEM organization at CU Boulder. Through this organization, she works to build community for Women of Color in STEM, as well as provide resources to women of color in order to foster a safe and welcoming environment.

Namita believes that design has an integral role in society and can express what words can’t. It can be used to display emotions or intent, to make a change in society, or simply to relieve stress and have fun. Every photo that Namita has captured or project that she has created has a special significance to her because they’re all a sign of dedication to her craft. In hopes that design can create a change and teach, Namita will continue to pursue her passions and is excited to see where it will take her next.
